What exactly do you offer to the family system?
How I support looks different for every family. My goal for each family is an increased ease of life. Often, these non-normative family experiences can feel hopeless, isolating, and singular. I am connected to a large network of families and systems navigating similar experiences. My skill set is uniquely built on developing successful relationships with demand-avoidant children and their families. I offer lived experience in making it through similarly isolating terrain, as well as unique points of reference that come from seeing and supporting countless other families navigate this as well.
Are you comfortable working with my family without the goal of building skills or engaging in new activities?
Of course! While I always model building a scaffolded skill set, I respect that engaging in any kind of skills-building can be triggering. For families and children experiencing burnout, often, the most valuable service I can offer is simply showing up as a genuinely interested, boundary-respecting adult figure who is outside of the family system. This alone can be just as beneficial when supporting children who have fractured trust with educators and other professionals.
How should I introduce you to my child?
I am partial to whatever title makes you and your child feel most comfortable. I have been introduced as: Support Specialist, Artist, Mentor, Adventure Guide, Fisherman, Wrestling Coach, Board Gamer, Family Friend and Dinner guest.
Getting Started
My standard rate is $150 per hour. I am currently an out-of-network provider and do not accept insurance.
I also happily offer a sliding scale. If you feel that my service would be beneficial to your family, please don't hesitate to ask for whatever rate is manageable for you.
